The USAID India Health Office (HO) partners with national and state government institutions to develop, demonstrate and scale up high-impact, best practices in the areas of family planning or reproductive health; maternal, new-born and child health; and disease threats like HIV/AIDS, Polio, and Tuberculosis.

Under the USAID’s “knowledge partner for health” grant, the Swasti L4i (Learning4Impact) team supports it and its partners to understand and use monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) at the portfolio and grant level.

The L4i team also nurtures partnerships between USAID grantees working on health, to promote cross-learning between different stakeholders. In order to support USAID projects to adapt and improve, there need to be forums and communities that can share successes, strategies and challenges. Swasti creates an enabling environment for the same.

Between July and September 2022, the L4i team uploaded 66 new resources to the learning library and promoted it on social media via learning nuggets. These nuggets were curated in the form of infographics and social media posts that were regularly shared through Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. 

Additionally, across three states (Delhi, Maharashtra and Telangana), 516 service providers and community representatives participated in workshops and co-created solutions to reduce the prevelance of HIV/AIDS.

Under Community Led  Monitoring (CLM), a total of 336 community champions were re-oriented and trained. A reference guide (playbook) was released with details of how the CLM process was piloted in all the three states. The model was applied to 474 service delivery facilities mapped in eight districts in these states.

In the same quarter, new and emerging learnings about COVID-19 were strengthened, as the L4i has been now adding COVID-19 related knowledge resources such as research papers, reports, guides and manuals. In this very quarter, 93 new resources were added to the L4i platform.
